Different clubs need different funding strategies.

Use these pathways to avoid applying to the wrong funder with the wrong story.

Sports clubs

Best lanes: Sport NZ/Tū Manawa, Rural Travel Fund, gaming trusts, council sport/recreation grants, local sponsors.

Evidence: player numbers, age groups, safety need, participation barriers, quotes, affiliation.

Arts and culture groups

Best lanes: Creative Communities Scheme, council arts funds, community trusts, event sponsors.

Evidence: participation, cultural value, local access, artist/community involvement.

School / PTA groups

Best lanes: sponsors, school community campaigns, gaming trusts where eligible, council/local funds, grants aligned with youth outcomes.

Evidence: board approval, school bank/account process, beneficiary numbers, equity/access rationale.

Marae, hapū and iwi groups

Best lanes: Oranga Marae where eligible, DIA/community grants, regional trusts, council partnerships, philanthropic funders.

Evidence: governance mandate, community benefit, kaupapa, whānau outcomes, asset/facility need.

Disability and inclusion groups

Best lanes: community trusts, council accessibility funds, Sport NZ active recreation pathways, sponsors with values fit.

Evidence: access barriers removed, participant voices, inclusion outcomes, safety/support needs.

Youth groups

Best lanes: Tū Manawa, community trusts, youth development funders, council youth funds, local sponsors.

Evidence: youth voice, safeguarding, participation numbers, wellbeing/skill outcomes.

Emergency, rescue and community safety

Best lanes: gaming trusts, community trusts, council grants, local business sponsorship and equipment campaigns.

Evidence: response area, safety impact, asset condition, training and volunteer numbers.

Senior and wellbeing groups

Best lanes: COGS, council community grants, community trusts, local sponsors, donor campaigns.

Evidence: isolation/access need, regular attendance, volunteer support and wellbeing outcomes.
